Sam Burbank (the Birdwatchers)
The Birdwatchers were 2 brothers, Sam and Joshua Burbank
(and, at the time of this recording, Dan Plock). They wrote and sang
like angels - kind of a Crosby, Stills and Nash meets Elvis Costello.
But better than that.
They were a reclusive band, but well worth seeing live if
you could catch them. Their 2 CDs are absolutely fabulous - ttrack them down.
Sam has gone on to become a respected filmmaker for National Geographic (he
offered fantastic advice for me when I was preparing to shoot Svetlana Village:
The Camphill Experience in Russia). He also has an independent feature in
